Mirsk (ca. 3 km.)
Mirsk is a village at five minutes driving of the campsite. Here you can find several shops. Mirsk has also a supermarket EKO with good parkingfacilities. Every saturday there is a market at the EKO. Mirsk is a typical Polish village. Characteristic are the shops which are situated in a square. The town hall is located in the middle of the square. There are a couple of nice restaurants.

Swieradow Zdroj (8 km.)
Swieradow Zdroj is located at 8 kilometres from the campsite at a height of 800 meters. This village is a typical winter sports resort. Here you can find pleasant and touristic shops, restaurants, luxurious spa’s, bars and a skilift. At summertime this is a nice village. But also at summertime this is a very pleasent village. The magnificent environment is
outstanding for making walks. Swieradow Zdroj is situated at the beginning of the Sudeten mountains.

    Lubomierz (ca. 11 km.)
    The little town Lubomierz is located at the endings of the Izerskie mountains. As many typical Polish towns, Lubomierz has a nice Market with houses with arcades. The Market is dominated by the Baroc Benedict church, which was build around 1727 by Jakob Scheerhof. Lubomierz is well known by the many Polish films that were produced here. The movie that made this town very famous is called Sami-Swoi (only our people). For more information check the button activities.

    There is also a museum in Lubomierz in the Plociennik house, this house is build in the sixteenth century. The requisites used for the film Sami-Swoi are shown in this museum.

    Lesna (15 km.)
    You can find an impressive castle (Czoch) in the neighbourhood of Lesna. It’s situated at the bank of the Lesnianski lake, and can be seen from far. The castle was built in the fourteenth century, but was destroyed by a fire and rebuilt several times. This created a mixture in styles in the architecture of the castle. This beautiful castle was used as a filmset for the movie Harry Potter. You can visit the castle, where you can see the torturechambers and the watch tower. There are also guided tours organised in the castle. You can swim at the lakes of Lesna. There are several restaurants located at the bank of the lake, and you can rent waterbikes.

    Lwowek Slaski (27 km.)
    Lwowek Slaski is a little town build on the top of a steep rock at the river Bobr. It is situated at foothill of the Izerskimountains. There are remainings left of a brick wall that protected the town against attacks in the past. A gothic-rennaissance town hall is located at centre of the town. The town hall was build around the fifteenth century and is enlarged around 1525.
    The town hall was being renovated in 1905 and beautiful arcades have been added. As many other typical Polish towns, Lwowek Slaski has a Market. There are historical interesting houses located around the Market. You can find also the Maria Ascension (Kosciol Wniebowieca) it is marked by its two towers. This church has an imposing Roman front which is build around the thirteenth century. In Lwowek Slaski you can also visit a ruine of an other gothic church. This church is build by frisanier monks, but not been used since 1810.

    Szklarska Poreba (20 km.)
    Szklarska Poreba is a great village to start your walks in the Karkanosze. Szklarska Poreba is a typical winter sport resort. It is situated at the foot of the mountain Szrenica (1362 m.) This enjoyable and touristic village is also known because of it’s glass (Silezian crystal). You can find here plenty of shops and restaurants. Near Szklarska Poreba you can find a waterfall. This waterfall is called the Szklarska waterfall and is about 15 meters high. You can make beautiful walks in the woods. Which never seem to end.

    Jelenia Gora (25 km.)
    This beautiful and nice city is located at the foot of the Karkanosze.
    It is a populair tourist destination and a good point to start your walks. The historic heart of the city is the Market with the city hall surrounded by stately pastelcoloured houses with arcades. There are a few interesting museums to visit such as the Regional museum wehere decorative glass from all over Poland is shown. Jelenia Gora is a enjoyable city with nice shops and attractive restaurants. There are also big supermarkets in Jelenia Gora such as the Tesco and the Carrefour. These supermarkets are open 24 hours a day.

    Karpacz (40 km.)
    Like Szklarska Poreba this is a populair village to practice outdoor sports. There are also several spa’s situated in Karpacz. The wooden Roman church Wang which was bought from Norway in 1842 is typical for this village. The church has been shipped to Karpacz in 1842. This church can be visited. At both sides of the main street you will find nice shops and restaurants. In the centre of Karpacz you can find an old linden tree, it is called the justicetree. In the past there were meetings of the court held. From Karpacz you can walk the friendship route (Droga Przyjazni). This walk is about 35 km. and leads along the Sniezka and the Karkanosze, along Szrenica to Szklarska Poreba. A summer sleigh track is placed in the centre of Karpacz. The track slide is about 1060 meters long and the speed is about 30 km/h. Aside the sleigh track, you can find a bobsleigh track (Alpine coaster) which has the speed of 35 km/h and is about 800 meters long.

    Kowary (45 km.)
    In Kowary you can visit an old uranium mine. You will discover a 700 year old mine. This mine was used during the Second World War by Polish and Soviet people to produce the first Soviet A bombs. They produced the bombs with minerals and metals found in this mine. The mine has about 20 tunnels. Since 2000 the mine can be visited by tourists. The touristic route is about 1.2 kilometres long and you will walk through galeries, chambers and caves. You can also learn how the mine workers lived. Nowadays the mine is used for radon-therapy.     You can also visit the miniature park at Kowary. You will find the best architecture of Silezie in this park. Churches, palaces and markets of old towns have been rebuild at a scale of 1:25.

    Boleslawiec (ong. 40 km.)
    The town Boleslawiec is situated near the German/Poland border at the river Bobr. The history of this town goes back to 1202. This town is the heart of the Polish pottery. One can find many pottery factories with their own shops.
    Boleslawiec has a nice town centre. The houses with arcades situated around the town hall have nice pastel colors. The town hall was reconstructed in 1522 after it was severely damaged. It later underwent numerous alterations and its present shape dates from 1776. Around the town centre there are some remains of an ancient brick wall.
    Another building worthy of mention is the 15th century Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, decorated with Baroque sculptures. The interior of the church follows the design of Italian-born painter and sculptor Giulio Simonetti.
